You have probably never seen a balloon in this condition – at the moment when it explodes, but literally the fraction of the second when it starts to pop.
Photographer Edward Horsford from London uses only normal balloons, a long sharp steel rod, his hands and his camera to make this possible. No photoshop or fake montages, just the amazing possibilities of a camera and the perfect lightning. He is trying to create works that are highly unique and interesting, and he is just doing it for the fun where he plays with ideas and methods. The cool effect he gets when the balloons explode is the water that is coming out of it, and that is exactly what he fills the balloons with.
The trick of getting such awesome shots is in the timing of the flash light; every time he is popping a new balloon he is hoping that the flash went off at as expected. There are also in other types of photography that you need to have the right flash, the right timing and a lot of patience, like in for example water drop photography.
