NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday questioned the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on its alleged double speak on the bail applications of the accused in the 2G spectrum allocation scam including DMK MP Kanimozhi.
The apex court asked the CBI that if the investigative agency was sure that evidence will not be tampered with, then why were the accused still being kept in jail.
"When you are sure they will not tamper with evidence why keep them behind bars?" The Supreme Court judge asked the CBI officials.
He also questioned the CBI saying, "When you do not want them for further investigations why keep them in jail?"
The CBI had earlier told the Supreme Court that they will oppose the bail applications of all accused in the trial court but last week the CBI Counsel UU Lalit had not opposed bail for the five accused in the 2G case.
However, the CBI opposed the bail pleas of three executives of Reliance Telecom on Monday.
